Calling for Revival

Acts 16, Paul and Silas find themselves in undesirable circumstances: imprisoned. How do they spend their time? Signing songs of worship and prayer. Then, the world shook, prisoners were set free, and Paul and Silas got to see a jailer come to know Jesus, salvation, and new life himself. The Bible says: he was filled with joy because he came to know God.

Today, we find ourselves in undesirable circumstances: pandemic, divided nation, racial injustice, economic uncertainty, and isolation. What’s amazing about this story is their orientation toward God, not their setting and an orientation toward revival not their own deliverance. This is a powerful freedom.

Pray for Joy in the City

In this activity, let’s spend time praising God and asking for revival in our city.

  • Pray for joy to fill our church.

  • Next, pray for freedom for the oppressed in our city

  • Next, pray for salvation and people to know Jesus in our city. Pray for people by name if you can.

  • Lastly, pray for the very fabric of our city to be shaken and entire households to be filled with a joy that can only come from Jesus.
