There came a point in the history of Israel where they had multiple generations of complete deterioration of their worship of God, trust in him, and the remotest desire to walk in his ways. However, during the reign of a child, the Words of God were rediscovered, and the truth not only set them free, but called them into worship. In this exercise we’re going to remind each other of the Words of God. It’s pretty simple, but will call us into worship.
Open Your Bibles
Go to those sections you’ve loved, those well-worn pages, or those letters in the New Testament you have fond memories of, or maybe verses that seem so familiar, you often neglect them (like John 3:16). As a group take some time looking through your Bibles, asking: “Spirit, lead me to the words that would encourage and challenge my community or family.”
As the Spirit leads, read these Scriptures out loud. You can also tell the stories of Scripture which can be a good idea for children as well as adults. As all of this reading happens, remind each other: “This is God speaking to us!”
