INTRODUCTION:
Ephesians 3:14-21 is prayer for the Church to understand, know, and grasp the power and depths of God’s love. With this prayer Paul wraps up one large section on what God has done for us in the gospel and who the church is. Now, Paul will turn his attention to encouraging and urging the church to be and live in accordance to their calling. Before he does that, he prays for us to know God’s love. In this guide, we’re going to use this time to reflect back on the first three chapters as a whole.
DISCOVER:
Read Ephesians Chapters 1 through 3 out loud and then make a list as a group.
First, what do these three chapters tell us about God? His character, His person, His motives?
Second, what do these chapters tell us about what God has done and is doing?
Lastly, what do these chapters tell us about who we are in Christ? Our identity and the Church?
NURTURE:
You’ve likely made an extensive list. Which truths are the easiest for you to believe? Which are the hardest? Where do you the Spirit’s power to understand God’s love?
ACT:
Spend the remaining time praying in light of Ephesians 3:14-21. Pray for the Spirit to give us the power to comprehend and the ability to understand in our souls.
